How do you get SMS to work on plasma mobile on pinephone?

I got sms working on my pinephone - hasn’t worked for almost a month. The default app “spacebar” doesn’t work though. I’ve looked for any threads on spacebar, and I can’t find any. I don’t get any errors - I type a message, but the other end never receives it.

How should I proceed?

What I did to get it working:

  • I downloaded “modem manager gui” , and got it to recognize my modem.
  • Had to reboot the phone to get this to happen
  • I added a connection named “US Mobile” and an apn of “pwg”. Didn’t change anything else.
  • I clicked on the “SMS” tab on the Modem Manager GUI and was able to send and receive messages.

It works for normal numbers and shortcode numbers (like text banking or opting into coupon codes)

I don’t know why Spacebar doesn’t work anymore, but this works for me.
