How to set resolution and seperate PPI on laptop and external monitor?

Hi guys
I recently bought a Huawei Mateview GT 34-inch, which is ultra wide view monitor with max 3440*1440 resolution. I normally use Manjaro on my Macbook Pro 2015 13-inch laptop, in order to use the Retina screen of Macbook Pro, I have to set resolution to 2560*1600 with “Global scale” at 150%, it’s fine, but until I connect the external monitor with HDMI cable. The problem is:

  1. I can’t find 3440*1440 resolution on that monitor, the most wide resolution is 2580*1080
  2. the “Global scale” 150% fits my laptop monitor perfectly, but will make words too huge on the external monitor.

So the question is:

  1. Is there a way to set the correct resolution 3440*1440 for the monitor? I’m not sure if I should use Thunderbolt Port instead of HDMI to connect external monitor.
  2. Is there a way to set “Global scale” separately for different display?

Hi @kamusis, and welcome!

While I have dual monitors, they are identical, so the resolutions are the same and they’re working like a charm. So, I personally wouldn’t be able to help you.

But, I can point you in this direction: xrandr - ArchWiki. Maybe it helps!
