How to properly scale the external monitor?

Hi there,

My built-in screen is 2560x1600, and the external screen is 1920x1080. In the settings, there is no scale that fits correctly for these monitors. For example, 150% scaling is perfect for my laptop display, but it is very zoomed in for the external display, so I cannot really work on that. I would like to have the laptop displayed scaled 150%, but the external display stays at 100%.

I know that there are some topics already about this problem, however, I tried the solutions, and they didn’t work for me. I’ve been stuck on this problem for weeks now:( That is why I thought maybe I needed more personalized answers.

I tried following the article HiDPI in ArchWiki and used xrandr to adjust the scaling, but it made it worse, so I revered the changes.

here is info:

You cannot imagine how grateful I would be if someone could solve this problem:) Thank you

What you’re trying to do isn’t supported with KDE + X11. There is an unsupported method given at the end of that thread which may or may not work.

As far as I know, KDE + Wayland allows to set a scaling factor per screen.
You might need to install a Wayland package to be able to select Wayland on the login screen.

Thank you so much! I installed Wayland, and the issue was solved(idk if Wayland is stable enough, especially with Nvidia, but I’ll try it for a while to find out). Thank you again, I am very happy:)

For the benefit of passers-by; To install Wayland (in KDE):

sudo pacman -S plasma-wayland-session

This also installs xorg-xwayland.
