How should I be resolving these pacnews?

This is what your /etc/shells should look like…

# Pathnames of valid login shells.
# See shells(5) for details.

/bin/sh
/bin/bash
/bin/rbash
/bin/zsh
/usr/bin/sh
/usr/bin/bash
/usr/bin/rbash
/usr/bin/zsh
/usr/bin/git-shell
/usr/bin/systemd-home-fallback-shell

If you do not use systemd-homed, then it would be safe to remove /usr/bin/systemd-home-fallback-shell.

In this case, you should safely be able to click the left-facing pointer to merge, delete the middle green one from the left (as it’s covered by merging the bottom (blue) one and to be honest I’d leave the top one alone. Then save the one on the left (no need to save anything in the .pacnew).

They are both missing /usr/bin/zsh. Not a problem just yet because of the symlink from /bin to /usr/bin, but those symlinks may end up disappearing from:the specifications at some point in the future, and then zsh users wouldn’t be able to log in anymore.

I see it in the left pane, which is why I suggested to leave those in.

Mine have been since my late 40s, unfortunately … and it’s the same with most people I know around my age. Although it varies quite a bit. a few months ago, I could not use the laptop without glasses; now I can, mostly. :man_shrugging: (also the case with others I know, it’s a bit of a “hot topic”).

Totally off-topic, but I’m not using a laptop. This is a desktop computer with a 27" monitor in 1920x1080 resolution.

Anyway, I gave the OP the content of what their /etc/shells should look like. It’s up to them now.

One glass is enough, isn’t it? … Unless you wanted a chaser.

I’m finishing off a nice “tinny” just now, so I think I’ll be OK until it’s safe to take the covers off (sunset?) … :vampire:
