Hi, i been trying to enable wifi connection on my manjaro laptop, followed a few tutorials on google using netctl, nmcli, but none worked out, could someone help me out?
Hello, djamel, you need to provide more information in order to get help. (Please see the forum articles about how to get system information and then present it on the forum.) To start with, some basic information about your networking would be helpful, such as:
$ ip address
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
inet6 ::1/128 scope host
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
2: eth0: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc mq state DOWN group default qlen 1000
link/ether dc:a6:32:80:5b:d6 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
3: wlan0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP group default qlen 1000
link/ether dc:a6:32:80:5b:d7 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
inet 192.168.1.175/24 brd 192.168.1.255 scope global dynamic noprefixroute wlan0
valid_lft 61126sec preferred_lft 61126sec
inet6 fe80::aa07:2d67:144f:6c0f/64 scope link noprefixroute
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
try running this :
sudo systemctl enable NetworkManager.service
then reboot your computer. maybe that’d help.
If you can’t see wifi icon in the system tray then you probably have an old kernel and a very new laptop. Try upgrading to a newer kernel using the systemsettings->kernel section
Hi @djamel ,
Welcome to the forum, maybe you could find the best solution here in the forum but we need to know more specific information about your system.
Please, read the following post and post the output of your system:
‘[HowTo] Provide System Information’

@j8a
Hi, thanks for replying as well as for the advice on how to get system information.
Here are the result of ip address:
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group default qlen 1000
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
inet6 ::1/128 scope host
valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
2: enp5s0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP group default qlen 1000
link/ether 78:45:c4:b3:f8:67 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

and here is the result of inxi -v7azy command(quite long):

Hi, thanks for replying, i did do the command, unfortunately it did not work out.
Hi @djamel ,
The notebook has a Fn+F2 switch. Did you try to enable wifi pressing both keys?
I wonder whether you could post the output of the following terminal command:
```rfkill list``
Maybe, it is blocked and you have to run: rfkill unblock
in order to make the wifi adapter enabled.
Hope it help, regards
@j8a
before doing the Fn + F2 keyword, i did the rfkill list
command and the following showed
0: hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: yes
Hard blocked: no
then i did the Fn + F2 switch and redid the rfkill list
command but nothing showed up this time
Still no wifi option tho.
You need probably the proprietary driver:
sudo mhwd --install pci network-broadcom-wl
Don’t forget to reboot
Thank u, that did indeed show my modem name, however when i try to connect to it, it does not work. note that when i try to connect to it, it automatically puts in password that cannot be changed.
