How do I check the logs?

Hi,
I am using the Xfce version of the latest stable edition of Manjaro.
I have noticed some anomalies that I would like to investigate and report to you here.
Unfortunately I am not familiar with where and what files I need to include in any report.
I have searched the forums looking for ‘How to check logs’ but to no avail - probably need to try harder.
The strange thing I can report is that the system crashes out after I log in and don’t immediately use it after a approximately 5 minutes. Though if I use it straight away it does not crash out.
My computer by default is not connected to the internet unless I allow it to - I use a hotspot from my phone. (currently changing my internet provider)
Also I want to find a tool which allows me to inform you which system I am currently on.

I hope someone here can help me.

Thank you all for your advice in advance.

This thread has some good pointers:

Thank you.
I have read through it and will try out the procedures later this evening.

Just one quick thought though. Isn’t there some sort of GUI tool or application that gathers all that data and presents it on the desktop in an easier to manage format?

Have gone through a fresh install on my SSD starting with 17.02.
Have found a new set of error messages that after updating do not make sense :

Currently running: 4.14.98-1-MANJARO (linux414)

Thanks for all your help in advance

That’s a very, very old installer image.

This makes me think you have a Ryzen system so you should be running kernel 4.19 at a minimum.

I suggest you start a new thread with a descriptive title for each issue you’re having rather than adding more detail to an ever-evolving personal support thread.

17.02 gave me absolutely no problems through installation on my old hdd. I had installed 18.02 I think on my SSD and remembered that the install method I chose at the time (might not have been calamares come to think of it) was long and complex and probably led me down a path of choices that I didnt quite understand. So going with 17.02 seemed the best bet.

Must say that I did choose to boot the UEFI version too - not on Ryzen but definitely AMD A10-68K. Will start a new thread  Had really wanted to keep things in one place and to find out what the ‘KFD’ issue above was all about.
