How do I change the device display name in Dolphin?

I’d like to know if it’s possible to change the display name of my HDDs here:

Thanks in advance!

Set a label on it.

Search for Partition Manager in the launcher

  1. Select the device
  2. Right-click the partition
  3. Open properties
  4. Set the label

If the device is ntfs or exfat you will need to unmount the device before you can change the label.

Thank you so much! I can’t find Partition Manager, does the program not come pre-installed? If I look for it in the Add/Remove Software I find KDE Partition Manager (partitionmanager) in official repositories. Should I go for it?

KDE Partition Manager is the Plasma tool

So, yes?

If you installed from the Full Plasma ISO, then partitionmanager should be installed by default — I do not know whether it’s installed by default when installing from the Minimal ISO, but in that case you can always install it from the repository.

Either way, it is called “KDE Partition Manager” in the menu. As an alternative, there is also gparted in the repository.

A good point - I’d be curious to know how you end up with Plasma installed that doesn’t pull up anything in the menu after typing ‘part’.

I get KDE Partition Manager and Disks, because I always install Gnome Disks, my favourite tool for editing fstab after a few experiences manually editing it without due care an attention.

Certainly with Gnome-Disks it’s really trivial to apply your labels, and also to set ‘human’ mount points - mine are slightly descriptive, like /mnt/W2 /mnt/T4/ /mnt/W4 with the mount point using the labels:
