How can I improve FHD monitor appearance in Plasma?

on the output at 1920x1080 the text becomes very hard to read, more so on KDE than Cinnamon. It’s almost unusable and I am wondering what I am doing wrong. It’s a Samsung SyncMaster P2370HD (23 inches), in the side it says FHD 1080p. The laptops I’ve connected to it thought arent FHD screens, the just support it with an outside monitor.
I connected my laptop through HDMI (tried 2 cables same results). Now my laptop has built in Intel Graphics and an NDVIDIA one? Could this be a possible issue. is it using the built in graphics over the Nvidia ones? Anyway to find out?
P.S. on windows 10, it works pleasantly. Not superb, but pleasantly.

it shouldn’t make any difference to text size which GPU is being used. with KDE you can change both the screen resolution and the text dpi. Open System Settings and scroll down to the Hardware section. From that open Display and Monitor. There you will be able to specify 1920x1080 resolution for the external monitor.

The text dpi can be changed in the Appearance section of System Settings under Fonts.

I’ll try it asap. Got to take the dog out.

Connect your monitors and check for info, please
(first install xdpyinfo with sudo pacman -Sy xorg-xdpyinfo)

inxi -SMGxxxz
xrandr
mhwd -li
cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/*.conf
cat /var/log/Xorg.?.log

Edit: first check your KDE settings, as @anon71843593 said (monitor resolution, fonts dpi)

Thanks for your reply, I did as you told me, and I am now rinnung at FHD bet the textx seem to vae a glow to them. Is there a preferred font or size?

try the different anti-aliasing options then. your monitor may have a different sub-pixel layout than the default RGB.

were can I find those?
Also, <I notice, when I changed the font/size, it applied it to the entire system, like menus…etc… how do I revert back?

same place you changed the font/size etc. at the bottom there’s also a Defaults button. that will revert any font changes you already made.

found them thanks. I’ll play around the anti aliasing to see If they can look good. BTW, I’m still at FHD and working on it. Thanks!
Now, onto petsam’s advice, I have one reply. “I don’t understand Chinese” LOL!

Only Greek, I know. Me too!
Take some time to read the tutorial on how to fix terminal output to be readable. Not that would help your issue, just for learning.

I’m still running at FHD! Between the fonts and the CTRL + on the browsers, this has now become useable!!!
