How can i find a driver for my Wi-Fi device?

I tried:

nmcli device wifi connect SSID password YOUR_PASSWORD

And the error says “Errore: nessun dispositivo Wi-Fi trovato.” and it means that nmcli couldn’t find any device.
Edit: my wifi device info:

Device-2: Broadcom BCM43142 802.11b/g/n vendor: Hewlett-Packard
    driver: bcma-pci-bridge v: N/A modules: bcma pcie: gen: 1 speed: 2.5 GT/s

Welcome to Manjaro! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

  1. Please read the information behind this link. It will help you to post necessary information.

[HowTo] Provide System Information

  1. Please press the three dots below your post and then press the :pencil2:
  • If you give us information about your system, we can see what we’re talking about and make better suggestions.
  • You can do this by using inxi in a terminal or in console.
sudo inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width
  • Personally identifiable information such as serial numbers and MAC addresses are filtered out by this command
  • Presenting the information in this way allows everyone to be familiar with the format and quickly find the items they need without missing anything.
  1. Copy the output from inxi (including the command) and paste it into your post.
  • To make it more readable, add 3 backticks ``` on an extra line before and after the pasted text.

there is also nmtui - a terminal based graphical UI
may be easier to use/navigate

but yes, as @andreas85 said - system info is needed

Thank you, just edited the post

prepend your command with:
LANG=C
the output will be in english then

It looks like that there is no valid driver for your wifi card present

inxi -Fazy

is a command that I remember that will get you (and us) that info
along with a lot more …

Thank you, in “Activate a connection” i see only Ethernet: USB and PCI, what I should do?

Output of inxi -Fazy

show us what you see - show us the output of a command that provides system info

don’t tell us what you see - show us

edit:
I see - you just added that info above

no wifi device present - however
a possible candidate (with no driver) is there

no idea at the moment how to make it work …

Thank you, I’m new on this forum, should I mark this as solution and make another topic asking for driver of my wifi device or not?

it’s not a solution - it’s the start of how to find a driver for that device

you could now, with that information, try on your own …

But maybe it would be better to start a new thread, with all that info from the start,
and ask how to make that device work - if it can be made to work.

or adjust the title of the thread and continue here - I don’t know what might be better :man_shrugging:

Please do not create duplicate topics for the same issue. You marked this post as solved. If it’s not, unmark it and follow up.

not the way to go, it seems
new thread was closed
and I said it was not a solution

stay here - perhaps adjust the title …

Just solved!
FIrst I opened settings, then Manjaro Settings Manager, then Hardware configuration, I installed the driver, rebooted and then with nmtui i connected Manjaro to wifi.

ok - so there was a driver to use and install
which was not installed by default - obviously

Could you tell us what it was?
so “we” can learn from it

inxi -Fazy
again -
with the now functioning driver
would help see what was done, what was missing for you

Thanks!
