Grub Warning

History : I had two NVMe drives connected & was having issues so decided to get rid of the one that had windows on it.

Removed it from the system. Rebooted into Manajro, updated grub & got this:

Generating grub configuration file ...
Found theme: /usr/share/grub/themes/manjaro/theme.txt
Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-4.19-x86_64
Found initrd image: /boot/amd-ucode.img /boot/initramfs-4.19-x86_64.img
Found initrd fallback image: /boot/initramfs-4.19-x86_64-fallback.img
Found memtest86+ image: /boot/memtest86+/memtest.bin

Followed by this warning

/usr/bin/grub-probe: warning: unknown device type nvme0n1.
done

Manjaro is on nvme0n1. So…fix or ignore? I have rebooted & everything went OK.

…or just ignore it.

Thanks banjo. Should have searched first. My bad. :face_with_monocle:

edit: Yep. That got rid of it.

If you don’t want to see it at all (IIRC, this has to do with memtest86, then do:

sudo chmod -x /etc/grub.d/60_memtest86+

Then update GRUB

sudo update-grub

The error should go away on your next reboot.

Thanks merlock. That’s another way to go. I got rid of it by removing the same file>
/etc/grub.d/60_memtest86+

I think I only saw that warning when updating grub not rebooting. (I updated grub because I got rid of windows.)

Yeah, I just finished reading about your NVMe adventure.

I’m gonna ask a question about your setup over there.
