Hi i switched from pop os to manjaro and its a pretty nice experience so far. However theres graphical glitches throughout the ui whenever i try to scroll down too much. I have a suspicion this might be due to the drivers but i have ensured that nvidia-dkms 470.xxx is installed[my gpu is a gt 710]. Also all thumbnails for files like pdfs, images, and mp3 dont load and instead there is a blank space. Even the icons dont show
Welcome to the Manjaro community.
I’m sure someone will help with your issue when they are able.
As a new forum user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements; in particular, the many ways to use the forum to your benefit:
The Update Announcements should be checked frequently for important update related information.
These announcements contain a Known Issues and Solutions section and should generally be checked before posting a request for support.
Output of the following command formatted according to forum requirements (see links above) may be useful for those wishing to help:
inxi --admin --verbosity=8 --filter --no-host --width
Be prepared to provide more information and outputs from other commands when asked.
Regards.
Well, 'GT 710` gives us a general idea of how old your system must be to support this card; however, some system information (as requested by @scotty65 ) will likely help.
Aside:- I had a few of these cards at one time; they were relatively cheap and just what was needed for a few machines I once had; though I’m uncertain how well they would fair generally now.
Regards.
Hi and welcome,
This would seem to indicate you have done something abnormal and outside of usual support as video drivers are normally handled via mhwd
, in your case profile video-nvidia-470xx
, and would have garnered you a package like linux612-nvidia-470xx
, not nvidia-470xx-dkms
.
I would still suggest you provide us with an inxi
inxi -Farz
and we might as well ask for mhwd output while we are here
mhwd -li -l
But I am rather confident we will be advising you to undo what you have already done in regards to nvidia - that is remove any associated packages and/or configuration files and instead use
sudo mhwd -i pci video-nvidia-470xx
assuming of course that 470 is the correct series and that this is not a hybrid system.
This is the output of the command you requested

also i did not install any drivers. I was wrong in my terminology. I simply meant that i had ensured the drivers are installed.
Yes, I maintain an iMac20,1 with Sequoia, myself.
However, your actual mainboard details might be beneficial for those wishing to help.
It is a local no name brand and i believe the chipset is h61
Unfortunate.
The actual brand and model number might have been useful to find any available BIOS updates and/or research other known contributing factors with the same hardware combination.
i have searched but there are no bios updates available. Also i am pretty sure this is not due to the mobo as pop os, ubuntu and fedora ran fine
I didn’t suggest it was.
Generally, the more information that is known, the better; and many things can potentially contribute to a given issue.
All I can say with any certainty right now is that the `video-nvidia-470xx’ series drivers mentioned earlier should be suitable for your Nvidia GT 710.
Regards.
Yes, but that doesnt solve my issue.
No, it doesn’t.
However, it does confirm the driver should work with your GT 710; unless you find that to be useless information.
Beyond that, I’ll simply wish you luck.
