I have installed the GNU Backgammon application from add/remove software, and then try to run it from the menu but the program does not open.
There is a way to run it from the console with the gnubg -r command, but you can’t save configuration changes this way. Is there any way to resolve this issue?
What happens if you run gnubg
(no -r) from a terminal?
A bit lacking in the information dept…what command are you trying to run, and from what menu?
ETA: Changed to 3rd party applications, this is not an AUR issue.

For me, it works under sway/wayland (both GUI and from a terminal), from a TTY, and even by SSH on my iPad.
Check
pacman -Qk gnubg
If any altered files, re-install the package.
