Recent testing updates (updates which arrived right before most recent 03/10 I think) broke X sessions on gnome.
I have three machines (one real, two virtual) where xrdp access stopped working (xrdp currently works only on X). Nothing else changed for any settings related to xrdp or otherwise.
first I thought it was a xrdp-related issue, but then I tried to login from HyperV console to specifically X-session and it fails as well. Logins just fine with wayland.
Steps:
boot to gnome login screen, select X session (in my case yaru on x), enter password.
it fails to login, briefly shows blank screen and goes back to login. click on the user again and it will show password prompt and a message “authentication error”. For added bonus then typing no longer works, you cannot type anything and have to reboot from the menu.
for xrpd:
remotes to login screen as normal, login with your username and password, then briefly blank screen and RDP disconnects.
Not really, I need rdp to enable access from any platform, like android, ipad, pc etc. I can even login on my phone, just not very convenient to use on such screen.
For now I’ll use gnome remote desktop. It is wayland-based, and I did use it in the past (for VMs with waydroid it is a requirement basically), but LOL, it is also buggy now in the testing branch. I’m investigating these issues, and maybe post a new topic.
