Gnome "Entfernter Bildschirm" dialog pops up

Hi, can somebody help me?

I installed Stepmania, a Dance Game, on my manjaro machine with gnome. When the game opens in fullscreen, after a few seconds the gnome screen “entfernter Bildschirm” pops up. I made a picture, in the attachment. I am not sure how it is called in english, Screen Share?

If I click “Cancel”, it will just pop up again after a few seconds. I have to allow it.

What can I do?

Das Problem ist interessant.
Ich hatte öfter mal Dinge aus unsauberer Quelle verwendet, da war oft ein Haken dabei. Hast du die Möglichkeit das Spiel woanders zu installieren und zu testen?

Spieleinstellung: Hast du spezielle Grafikeinstellungen? Benötigt das Spiel 2 Bildschirme oder ähnliches?

Wieviele Monitore zeigt dein System (in der Shell) an vor dem Startund danach?

Das mit dem Fernzugriff irritiert mich am meisten könnte aber auch schlecht übersetzt sein. Hast du im Netzwerk andere Geräte die über KDE connect den Bildschirm teilen klnnen oder ähnliches?

Sehr wahrscheinlich Wayland Nebeneffekt und harmlos. Ich kann aber nicht sagen wie es auszuschalten ist, ich nutze kein Gnome bzw. Wayland.

This application is from the AUR and is unsupported by Manjaro. Use of the AUR is not officially supported by either Manjaro or Arch Linux.

The immediate resolution is to remove it:

sudo pacman -Rns stepmania

and direct your questions to the maintainer of the application; open an issue ticket via GitHub:

I understand that this is unsupported and that removing stepmania would solve the problem :wink: But I thought that maybe somebody here is able to recognize this and point me in the correct direction.

no, there is nothing special. I made a script that it runs with xwayland because I had problems with scaling, but the dialog also appeared without the script. The game does not need 2 screens, but it is able to run on two screens. The shell only shows the one TV that it is connected to.

No, I don’t think there are other devices on the LAN. Can I somehow just completly deactivate or deinstall the “Fernzugriff”? I do not need it.

I am partly guessing - Gnome no longer support x11 session

  • the application is created to run on x11
  • because it runs on Wayland - it now need permission to share the screen

If I am correct - I would search Gnome Settings and Gnome Tweaks for an option to allow screen sharing for a given application.

I have no other ideas, other than - as a last resort - contact the developers of the application.

Stepmania is abandonware at this point, so there is no point.
