I just installed manjaro gnome hoping it’s gonna be fast since my laptop was just a little slow on windows , and now after installation it’s even slower than windows and there is absolutaly nothing running in the background , the moment it was installed it just didn’t do well , Also my HDD is getting really hot and thrashing , i’m suspecting the problem is with the hard drive
you have a nvidia video card?
go into tweaks & turn off animations.

Have you installed any KDE apps? I always install certain KDE apps (Gwenview, Digikam, KDEnlive, Spectacle) whether I’m using KDE, Gnome, or Cinnamon.
I don’t know if all KDE apps do this, but some install Baloo and it slows the computer to a crawl, creates huge HDD activity, etc. Basically the machine is unusable.
Once I disable Baloo the machine becomes fast and responsive.
App take too long to open , right now i’m using firefox and it’s super slow i have to wait 5 seconds to do something
