Global Theme acting squirrely

Sometimes when my cursor touches the wrong place – I don’t know where or how it happens – my screens both turn hazy. I can still see everything, but it appears as if in a fog. Sometimes when I try to change the Global Theme I get a message to contact the theme developer because it is not working correctly. But if I double click Apply it seems to overcome its problem and works. But usually the only way I can get my screens back to normal is to reboot. That does not always work. Any help clearing this up will be greatly appreciated.

It might help if you specify which theme you are using, and verify that it is in fact Plasma 6 compatible, before asking for support.

Cheers.

I’ve had the same problems with Breeze Dark, Oxygen, Breeze, and Breath Dark.

Do you have anything set to happen in System SettingsMouse & TouchpadScreen Edges ? — Just guessing if that might be what’s triggering it. I think there was a “blur” effect in there which might be conflicting with Plasma6 if it’s still present?

Not that I can see. Here’s what it looks like:

I’ll look into deleting old configs. Thanks.

By default, Plasma sets up the top-left corner as a hot spot for the Overview effect, which does indeed blur the desktop, even when there is no active window on the current desktop. Clicking on the desktop or pressing Esc or Enter should return the normal view.

From your screenshot, it appears that you still have the default hot corner setup. You can either reassign this or disable it altogether by right-clicking the pertinent section on the depicted image of a monitor.

As for potential corruption of your existing Plasma configuration files, you may want to completely log out of Plasma, switch over to a tty, log in there as yourself, and delete the contents of ~/.cache/. If that is not enough yet, then you can try the same thing, but also rename all of the Plasma-related files in ~/.config/ to a .bak suffix and log into Plasma again in order to start over with the “factory defaults”.

Maybe you should try to force it then… move your mouse cursor in every corner.

It could be the Virtual Desktop maybe? If i remember right, it was default the top left corner, i had to disable it again in Plasma6.

But its strange that you have Graphic error’s because of it :frowning:

I have tried ESC and ENTER when this happens but nothing worked. The only remedy was to restart Manjaro, and the last time I couldn’t even do that. I had to manually shut down/start.
I have reset the hot corner setup (System Settings > Screen Edges > No action) and with fingers crossed will consider this a solution. Since I have everything back where I want it now, and nothing seems to be amiss, I think the Plasma config files are not corrupted. But I am saving your instructions for getting back to the factory defaults in case I’m wrong. Thank you.
