Can't reach specific websites, not an ISP issue

Hi!

I’m using a wired connection. I wanted to play Minecraft but to sign in I had to go to Microsoft’s website. When I go to login.live.com it says

Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.
We can’t connect to the server at login.live.com.
If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:

   Try again later.
   Check your network connection.
If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web.

I checked whether this was a connection issue, however the site works fine on my iPhone and I also tested both ethernet and wifi on a different laptop that uses Linux Mint.

A while ago I changed my internet security setting to WPA2 on the router gateway website and that fixed it for a while but that suddenly stopped working too, I also recently reset my router settings and I still can’t access login.live.com.

My inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host output is as follows:

Thanks in advance!

I’ve tried this on firefox and chromium.

Check with a different DNS provider.
Check with computer connected directly to the modem to absolutely rule out router configuration issue.
Clear the browser cache.
Try with a clean browser profile.
Disable adblock and all other extensions.
Does the issue occur with different browser?

That sounds like a DNS issue. Try to set your DNS servers and reboot, see if it fixes the issue. In Network Manager, for the connection set it to Automatic (address only) and add DNS servers of your choice, for example 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 and reboot.

Thank you for your effort, it turned out to be a DNS issue.

Thank you, setting it to 1.1.1.1 worked!

Just in case, add a second DNS server so it can be used if the first one is not working.
