Nvidia Driver 390xx requires restart of xServer to display Graphics after HDMI is Plugged in

Hello to whom ever would like to help me:
As the description says:
I’m using the proprietary video-nvidia-390xx driver;
My problem is that i have to restart the xServer after I plugged in the HDMI-cable in order to view my output on my monitor,
otherwise the the old display configuration stays.
Of cause it stays the same the other way round.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well it worked on Ubuntu, and since I’m using the same (proprietary) driver, which Canonical cannot change, this could be a XServer Problem, I thought…
