Getting a fix into the kernel/packages

I think I have the same problem as in this post:

forum: laptop
title: Touchpad not working on Lenovo Thinkbook 15 IIL

Sorry, I can’t post a link (new account…).

My laptop: Lenovo Thinkbook 14-IIL

Anyone able to comment on how long it might take for this fix to get into Manjaro, as an update?

I’m on: 5.4.64-1-MANJARO (linux54)

Thanks.

Well if you mean this: Comment #66 : Bug #1861610 : Bugs : linux package : Ubuntu then it is hard to say. Manjaro receives the kernel directly from https://www.kernel.org/, so it depends on the kernel developer.

But I see here: Comment #127 : Bug #1861610 : Bugs : linux package : Ubuntu that the kernel 5.9.0-rc4 should have fixed that… I would try installing that kernel, but it is for now experimental.

I’ll give it a try, thanks.

It’s not on my mirrors yet:

error: failed retrieving file ‘linux59-5.9rc4.d0830.gf4d51df-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst’ from **** : The requested URL returned error: 404

RC4 is not there because RC6 is already there. It should probably contain the fix.

sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux59

I was using the GUI, and after installing my updates, rc6 was listed.

So I’ve installed rc6, and can confirm that the touchpad is now working.

Thanks.

FYI: I’ll keep rc6 installed, but probably not be using it by default, as I always use a wireless keyboard and mouse. But if I go out, then rc6 will be useful.
