Wi-fi doesn't start on Acer Aspire laptop

Looking at some of the other posts here I probably just have the wrong driver installed. The default was not allowing me to search for wi-fi networks, and neither did the rtl88x2bu-dkms-git package via pamac.

Hopefully helpful and relevant info:

I just installed the r8168-dkms and I’ll try restarting to see if that works. Thank you so much for your help!

The wireless driver is available from the AUR. In terminal or via pamac GUI. reboot after installation. Be sure to have the appropriate Linux headers for your kernel installed as well.

pamac build rtl8852be-dkms-git

https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=rtl8852be-dkms-git

P.S. r8168 is an ethernet driver and will not resolve your wifi issue.

Thank you so much! So I switched to the 5.15 kernel and headers, installed the RTL 8852-BE DKMS driver, but I’m still not getting network access via WiFi. Ethernet still works perfectly.

Did you reboot?

Also there is a newer driver that has superseded the one that you just installed. It can be found at the following link.

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/rtw89-dkms-git

You can manually build via makepkg, via pamac GUI or in terminal

pamac build rtw89-dkms-git

Thank you so much!!! That was what I needed to get it going. Truly, I really appreciate the time you took to answer this forum post, a 30 foot Ethernet cord will do the job, but the access to WiFi was much needed. Thank you again!
