Freeze after resume from suspend

Hello, I’ve been running Manjaro on my laptop MSI GE63Raider for over a year now.
Lately, when resuming from suspend, it just seems to freeze. I can see the desktop but it’s responsive. The wallpaper is blank also.

you have these… they can be related to your suspend issue, or not… so lets fix this, and see if it helped… open this:
kate /etc/default/grub
and in and in this line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT inside the quotes add this parameter:
pci=nomsi
dont remove anything from there, add it to existing parameters…
save the file and update grub:"
sudo update-grub
reboot and check logs:
journalctl -b0 --no-pager | grep -E 'pcieport|PCIe|severity'

check here:

i was basically addressing your pci/aer errors, which this parameter ‘fixes’ …
now monitor your system for some new possible issues, if there are any, we can try different parameters…
you can check with:
lspci
which one is: 0000:00:1d.6 and 0000:05:00.0
and i have no idea why did it started to happen… maybe something was introduced with a new kernel?

and also clear your logs;
check the size first if you want:
journalctl --disk-usage
and clear it:

sudo journalctl --rotate
sudo journalctl -m --vacuum-time=1s

Well, ever since I added ‘pci=nomsi’, now my Windows11 VM does not boot.
I restored to a previous working state using Timeshift with no ‘pci=nomsi’ and it works now.
I also had added ‘mem_sleep_default=deep’ to the grub kernel parameter to fix my plasmashell wallpaper hanging on resume from suspend. Right click on desktop wan’t working.
Now in my restored config, I have both these lines deleted and my Windows11 VM boots fine.

Are you able to shed some light on this?

you dont use timeshift to remove a kernel parameter, you just remove it, save the grub file, and update grub, and reboot…

do you still have the pci/aer errors:

I ended up formatting and reinstalling Manjaro. Solved the problems, now there’s no issues.

Linux is not same as Micro$@$, in Linux you can actually solve problems instead of starting over from scratch…

But then again you need to spend time and efforts in it…
