Following Stable Update 2026-06-26 update: Severe flickering at edges of screen with grid-like artifactsi

With this update severe flickering at the edges of the screen with grid-like artifacts spanning the whole screen was introduced in full screen applications (mostly games). Previously a similar issue but without the grid-like artifacts occurred only in games based on the A4-Engine (Metro Series) and VLC. But now it also affects games based on UE4 (Deep Rock Galactic, The Mound Demo) and Gwenview. I would like to share a screenshot but the issue isn’t captured when taking one.

While being loaded, the AMD-GPU is currently not used by anything. Every application gets rendered on the nVidia-GPU.
Replies on the 610 release feedback over on nVidia’s dev forum suggest the issue may be caused by VRR: 610 release feedback & discussion - #50 by Rnk0 - Linux - NVIDIA Developer Forums
Disabling Adaptive sync in the system’s settings (Display & Monitor -> Display Configuration -> <Display name>) reduces the issue to only occur in very low/unstable FPS situations (e.g. loading screens) at the cost of slightly unstable frame rates in games.
