First start over ssh: Empty password for root@manjaro-arm does not work

Hello,
I try to install manjaro-arm on raspberrypi without extra keyboard and monitor.
0. I downloaded Manjaro-ARM-kde-plasma-rpi4-22.08.img.xz

  1. unpacked it
  2. Moved the image with dd to the sd card.
  3. Put the sd in the raspberry pi
  4. Plugged in the power supply
  5. Try to connect to the raspberry pi
  6. ssh root@manjaro-arm (with not password)
    → root@manjaro-arm’s password:
    Permission denied, please try again.
  7. the same as 6. with ip
    ssh root@192.168.178.56
    root@192.168.178.56’s password:
    Permission denied, please try again.

The “root:no password” combination is from here

Is this user:password combination changed? Or any other suggestions

Thanks in advanced

Headless setup via SSH is only available with the minimal image. Not with a desktop image like Plasma or Gnome.

Thank you! I overread that part

Please note:

Only the minimal image has SSH enabled.

Desktop images does not enable SSH and requires peripherals to setup.

After a test using Xfce image - the SSH service is active - but the setup cannot be completed - because the initial setup is using Calamares GUI.

There is certain hacks for Raspberry Pi using Raspberry Pi OS which enables SSH and wireless - but after some testing these appears ineffective on Manjaro images.

It is possible to hack the desktop images and setup the system.
