Title says it all, whenever I click on downloads in the Firefox browser to open the folder it almost always opens two instances of my downloads folder.

Hi @n_b,

I suspect your mouse’s click repeat rate is to fast and it interprets you single click as two clicks…

I don’t use Gnome, but try setting it somewhere in the settings to see if it makes a difference.

Hope this helps!

That seems like it may have worked. If anyone else needs to know how to do this go to Settings > Accessibility > Pointing and Clicking > Double-click delay > adjust the slider to your preference.

Thank you @Mirdarthos

@Mirdarthos Okay so the problem seems to persist after all. It doesn’t always do it, though, and I haven’t taken the time to figure out exactly what the discrepancy is from when it opens two windows and doesn’t.

Have you tried another mouse? :mouse2:

I don’t have any others. Thank you for the suggestion.

I keep having this issue. Its not such a big thing but its just annoying.

My mouse is fine before anyone asks  :stuck_out_tongue:

And my click delay is fine too

Just clicking on open downloads opens two files windows

Yeah this issue actually persists for me but I just decided to live with it.

Is widget.use-xdg-desktop-portal.file-picker set to 1 ?
(and are your portals correct?)

Since you are on gnome … are you using wayland and is firefox being started in wayland mode?

Does it happen with a clean profile and/or with --safe-mode ?

How are you ‘opening’ it? CtrlShiftY the same?

You can also try a right click (context menu) F (Show in Folder) and see if that’s the same.

But for sure, the best test is to create a new user, fresh desktop, and try it there… then you’ll know if it’s hardware, or $USER files messing up.

What is wayland mode?

Edit: Looks like window protocol is x11.
