I have a addon called Video Styler to change brightness/contrast/saturation, etcd for videos. The background is bright whight, the font is almost gone, can I change the background to black? Where is the addon folder at?
Probably, but I don’t know how, exactly. And definitely not easily.
The addon directory for each user profile is in that profile:
$HOME/.mozilla/firefox/<profile_subdirectory>/extensions
Or, well that’s where the .xpi
files are kept, which isn’t named according to the extension itself, apparently for security reasons, so it kind of gets complicated here, and new territory to me.
This one?
Video Styler (brightness and more) – Holen Sie sich diese Erweiterung für 🦊 Firefox (de)
Probably not, there is no option whose name hints at that functionality.
But I have just barely looked at it and have no use for it anyway.
In the ~/.mozilla
directory
for me:
~/.mozilla/firefox/jvzpjbyg.default-release/extensions
the name of the profile is different for everyone
I have a Eve ES07D03 a nano IPS, not contrasty enough really. unky none OLED fast glossy I could find,
~/.mozilla/firefox/Ben/extensions
Just for fun, I installed this extension - and indeed it’s only available as a light window with black text.
Browsing the extensions - it’s probably one with a gibberish name, I see now ‘video’ listed here…
87677a2c52b84ad3a151a4a72f5bd3c4@jetpack.xpi uBlock0@raymondhill.net.xpi
There you go - wonderful name - but that’s your file.
XPI files are basically just archives… so open that, you’ll find some images, some javascript etc.
However, if you’re having trouble even finding the extensions folder I am not sure you’ll get very far.
Let us know how you get on.
Hmmm, there is a background.js, but that is not a image. There is a .html that is the file that pops up when you press the button, but where do I change the background color?? It says color no where. A prog like kmag that inverts would be great for this, I can’t find a way to contact the author.
I installed Video Styler, and this what it looks like on my system…
No, I made no changes to it. That’s it immediately after install.
I’m using Breath Dark on Plasma, with Wayland. Firefox is following the theme, as, apparently is, or are, all my addons, including Video Styler.
tracyanne
Hmmm, wonder why mine is white. Maybe I should reinstall. The theme doesn’t chamge it right? Firefox theme is set to Auto here too, what theme are you using maybe only that 1 works? I am using X. Rebooted to WaylndNo to that, I am in Wayland, still white. I am also Breath Dark. I removed then installed again, it sorof worked, but the fonts & sliders are invisable now.

Hmmm, what am I doing wrong???
What theme are you using for GNOME/GTK applications?
I’m using Breeze
Yup, no effect here - fresh USER with vanilla breeze.
I can’t think of anything that I do different. I use vanilla theming, as in Breath and Breeze (for GTK), I make very few changes to the default system, in fact, at least where theming is concerned. I don’t change anything in firefox, theme wise.
I do have Dark theme enabled on firefox. I don’t remember setting it, but I might have.
OK that’s interesting. I installed Video Styler on a different instance of firefox, and now I get the issue @Edward78 posted about.
I will have to see what the difference is between the FF instances.
On that FF instance I have System Theme Auto enabled I also have colors set to use System Colors always.
Unfortunately setting that on this instance of FF messes with the styling of this forum. But it does make some other websites look much, much better.
So the solution I believe is to set Colours to user System Colours always.
Edit (on the FF menu) → General _> scroll down to Colors → Manage Colors → Select the Checkbox System Colors → select Always in the Combo box
That should get the Video Styler to follow the Dark System Theme.
Nope
Well it does for me.
I can’t offer any further assistance, if that didn’t work for you.
This is what Video Styler looks like on this instance of FF, as you can see the changes that make Video Styler follow the theme, mess up this Forum.
ABP+ went dark, Styler did, but the fonts & sliders don’t show I think the addon got messed up does the same with Invert Desktop. The fonts/slider flash up for a sec then go away. :oght the fonts/sliders stay, makes this harder to figure out.
I can’t suggest anything more, I can make it work on my setup, at the expense of some websites, doing the above. My only other suggestion I have for you, is take it up with the developer.
It works fine, the fonts, sliders just disappear after a sec, strange. When it is light it stays, I tries removing then reinstalling, doesn’t work. So you solved the first issue I had, thanks. I can not find any contact info for the dev.
You could leave a detailed comment in the reviews section, even link to this thread.
