Failure to take Borg / Vorta incremental backup

Hello. I am a new user of borg vorta.

I have setup backup of my /home folder. Recently I had mounted an external HDD on /home/Me/MountPoint

Thereafter daily incremental backup started as per schedule, and vorta started backup of entire external hdd to flood my backup folder /mnt/MyBackupMedia/Backup-using-borg-vorta/

Problem : After I manually deleted files of last backup, vorta has stopped daily incremental backup. I get “ERROR: Cache , or information obtained from the security directory is newer than repository - this is either a attack or unsafe (multiple repos with same ID)”

To resolve the issue, I followed Frequently asked questions — Borg - Deduplicating Archiver 1.2.6 documentation
borg config repo id
Repository /home/Me/repo does not exist.

I do have a folder named
/home/Me/.config/borg/security/c94bbf7402c738a97e27ee8522bc337a4c0666e43ea8368a121355bef8b934b5/

What is REPO / REPO_ID? I need hand holding to help me restart incremental backup. Thank you.

Borg creates a cache of your repo to parse it faster in ~/.cache. If the cache has other “targets” than in the repo, thus it does not match, then it will give you an error.

The cache is in ~/.cache/borg/REPOID and is safe to remove. It will be recreated.

A REPO or REPOID is the folder name where you save your backups.

Just removed the folder /home/Me/.cache/borg/

But, when I initiate daily incremental backup, I once again get “ERROR: Cache , or information obtained from the security directory is newer than repository - this is either a attack or unsafe (multiple repos with same ID)”

Well, I would remove cache and config of borg, then unlink and add again the repo in Vorta. Next time I wouldn’t touch any files in the repo by hand and manage it only with borg/vorta.
