Failed to start lightDM display manager after update

System : Dell XPS15 9560
GPU : Intel + NVIDIA 1050 mobile
OS : Manjaro Cinnamon

The great thing about manjaro was that it worked out of the box with nvidia (I had to do quite some config work to make it work on ubuntu and not consume a lot of power),

All worked fine “until a few weeks ago”, after an update I get the error when booting
Failed to start lightDM display manager

It worked before with 5.10 … 5.12 … but now (luckily) it only works with 5.4

I did a complete reinstall 2 weeks ago, did an full update today and a week ago , no change …

Uninstalled nvideo proprietary driver … no change.

Now that I just posted the issue and rebooted it suddenly works again with 5.4 , 5.10 , 5.13 , 5.14

Maybe uninstalling the nvidia proprietary driver (and rebooting once or twice) made a difference.

At the moment I do not need the nvidia proprietary driver and not too keen to try to add it (and mess it up) again, but maybe somebody has an idea what went wrong … and what I can do to safely add the nvidia proprietary driver again when needed ?
