"Failed to start" boot failure on MacBook

Running Manjaro KDE on a MacBook Pro 14.3 (2017 model, 15" screen, Intel core i7, Intel graphics, 16GB RAM). I installed Manjaro about a month ago and it was working ok, but I was getting the below messages every time I started up. Now when I start it up, the screen seems to freeze on these messages and no buttons do anything.

[FAILED] Failed to start pkgfile database update.

[FAILED] Failed to start Load/Save Screen Backlight Brightness of backlight:acpi_video0.

Anyone have any ideas what could be happening?

Hello @meter_filler

Does the adjustment of the backlight of your screen work? If so then the service can be masked, because it just tries to start a non-existing device.

Try this to check (not sure if this is the correct name):

systemctl status systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service

Seems to be the same issue like here: [FAILED] failed to start pkgfile database update
