Fail to Restart After Suspend - today's update (2022-05-13)

I’ve been using Manjaro for maybe a year and everything has been smooth.

But, after I updated today (it seemed like a major update), my computer can’t restart after it goes into suspend.

Normally, I can click on a key to start my computer, but, it doesn’t respond anymore. I use my computer multiple times per day, daily. So, I’ve tried numerous times. I always have to shut down my computer and restart.

So, now I guess I just have to click on Shutdown instead of Suspend until this gets resolved. It’s super annoying since I do use my computer many times per day.

Not sure what kind of info you need. I’ve got an MSI X570-A Pro motherboard if that is of any use to know.

Anyone else come across this issue after the update?

Update 2022-05-14:
This probably isn’t needed, but, just in case and to be more precise with what happens when I click on suspend: It doesn’t really suspend. It blanks the screen, but, my computer doesn’t really suspend. Normally, my computer “turns off” (suspend) and I see my power light blink. But, now, the screen blanks, my monitor power turns off, but, the computer does not go to sleep. It just locks.

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    [HowTo] Provide System Information
and press the three dots below your post and press the :pencil2: to give us more information so we can see what’s really going on.
Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information for us to be able to help you. (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.

Thanks, I updated my post with the info you suggested.

I came to the forum today for this exact reason. My laptop will not wake either. I have to pull the cover off the back and unplug the battery before I can power it back up. Once I get a chance, I’ll add the information to this thread to compare.

Quick follow up to my post above - when I was reading the output of

inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width

I noticed that I had 5.15 kernel. I downloaded the newest 5.17 from the kernel manager and reset my power settings to default. I put my laptop to sleep as I normally would by closing the lid. I just sat down after doing my evening yard work and opened the lid and everything is back to normal.

jarocaro - I would recommend updating your kernel and seeing if that takes care of your issue.

I know this is a really late reply, but, yes, I think after an update it went back to normal. Thanks!
