I connected an external HDMI monitor with my laptop for the first time today. The same monitor worked fine on another Manjaro+KDE laptop before. Now, it freezes with delays between a few to tens of minutes and only unfreezes when I e.g. change the framerate in system settings.
I can still change the brightness via ddcutil or xrandr. Changing framerate with xrandr -r/--rate does not unfreeze it, only via system settings. journalctl contains nothing relevant at the time of the freeze. I read about setting NVidia “performance mode”, but all the config UIs I found to set that are for Ubuntu or Windows. Restarting kwin_x11 or toggling compositing does not help. I read about some old driver bugs, but those were supposedly fixed years ago. My graphics card works fine otherwise.
