Exfat module omitted from kernel 6.17?

Seems like the exfat module was omitted from the build of the latest Linux 6.17 (first stable build as far as I know). Results in impossibility to mount a exFAT formatted memory key or disk. Mitigation : boot on older kernel like 6.12, they still work.

Cheers,

M.

I highly doubt it is omitted. But in 6.17 there should be several patches for exfat, maybe one of those is problematic. It might be a good idea to check the filesystem. Seems like the previous kernels ignored some errors and the new one refuses to mount if there is any error. This is one of the changes.

Ok, don’t know why but it works without changing anything. When I reported the issue, the usb disk was recognised and attached to the system but failed to mount. Issuing the mount command as root reported the filesystem exfat as not being known. Then I tried kernel 6.12, and it worked, and when I rebooted 6.17, the thumbdrive was recognised and mounted without problem. Don’t know what happened. Thanks,

M.
