Verifying SHA256 Checksum of a File in Manjaro

Hi all.

I have been unable to find a straightforward guide regarding how to verify the SHA256 Checksum of a file that I have downloaded from the AUR. I would appreciate any assistance.

Thank you & more power to you all.

Hi,

Did you try the sha256sum command?
Type man sha256sum for more information.

Hi & thanks for your note. I did what you said but I cannot make sense of the output. I will look into this further. Thanks.

I have downloaded a tar.bz2 file & confirmed the sh256. I am not sure how to install it from there.

Thanks, Russ

You cannot install it.

Unpack it to see what’s inside - there is probably a readme or install text file explaining what to do next.

The text file may contain instructions for a specific Linux version - needed dependencies et al - you need to find the Manajro equivalents before executing the instructions.

OK will do. Thanks for your input.
