Ethernet port doesn't work, driver is installed, not sure where to go from here

From what I can see here there is a driver installed for the network adapter but for whatever reason the ethernet port itself is just unresponsive. IIRC this worked in a previous kernel but a bunch of other features didn’t because this is relatively new hardware. The port does work because if I boot into windows it works. Any assistance is much appreciated.

I’m in an Airbnb for a month, working from here. There is 400mbps internet service here but the gateway is in the basement and the wireless penetration to the main floor is terrible. I only get about 10mbps with horrendous latency and most pages/ git pushes are failing and need to be run or refreshed multiple times. Thanks for your help.

Hi @badreg ,

I wonder whether you could post the entire command:
sudo inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width

with three backticks ``` before and after the output.

However, you can also post the output of the following terminal commands:

sudo dmesg | grep iwlwifi

and

sudo modprobe iwlwifi

Please, consider to read the following post:
Manjaro detected Intel Alder Lake-P PCH CNVi WiFi but the driver is N/A - #11 by jrichard326

One of the comments says:
Adding ibt=off to your kernel parameters is required for >=5.18

Hope it help,

Regards

Not a direct response to the problem, but may be worth considering in the future:

for cases like this I have a set up a small travel router
(OpenWRT with the program/service “travelmate” installed)
This works like a WiFi extender - the router generally has better reception than a computer or Laptop and can be placed where reception is better.
It takes the original WiFi signal and creates another separate WiFi Network which you and any number of devices can connect to.

Thanks so much for the reply, and the link to the other post. I’ll will post the output of these commands you provided, and also check out the post. I’m not 100% sure how to adjust kernel parameters off the top of my head but I’m sure I can search that.

EDIT: I checked the post you shared, and also my previous topic, and I had the ibt issue earlier when moving to 6.1 and some kind folks helped me figure that out, so it’s currently set to off.

sudo modprobe iwlwifi => this command yields no output

Thanks for the heads up, I’ve been considering something like this since this problem came up, really hasn’t been an issue before but now I will definitely get something like this set up and have it on hand

I’m wondering if any of these console outputs help? I’m out of ports here and hoping at least someone has a solution, thanks for your help!

Hi @badreg ,
The outputs you provided are correct, you have both connections up.

I could suggest you to read this posts, in order to solve your problem.
