I take a bit of responisibility for that, I should have mentioned CSM too, not just call it efi, I just forgot tbh.

And it wont go any further, and while I have not searched for this yet I belive I will have to open another thread if I cant find a solution.

Yeah, select your own post as the solution (so this thread closes after a few days) and move on, start another thread if needed.
BUT, I can tell you this. You most likely will end up reinstalling anyway, 15 months of not updating is most likely NOT a situation you want to repair, that is a reinstall situation.
But keep your home so the settings transfer to your new install (or not, your choice)

My intention is to learn to fix it, recover my random stuff and then move to a new install.
