I had a perfectly working version of snap and for some reason wanted to remove and reinstall. So followed the guide over at manjaro wiki and ran the following commands.

pamac remove snapd 

sudo rm -r /var/lib/snapd

Now, when I wanted to reinstall it, again followed the commands from the wiki linked above and ran -

pamac install snapd libpamac-snap-plugin 
sudo systemctl enable --now snapd.socket 
ln -s /var/lib/snapd/snap /snap 
pamac install discover-snap

after which restarted the laptop to be sure and ended up in the above state. I tried following through the existing topics from other users that seem to have the same issue and it did not seem to work for me.

Does anyone have ideas on how to resolve this? Let me know if more information is needed.

PS - I also posted the same question over at the snap forums (its still open and has not been responded - Holiday’s I think :slight_smile: ).

I think that one might have been a false flag, I’d updated the system and posted the question, rebooted now and I think I’m already up to date (see below), unless I’m supposed to do something outside of this?

Edit1 - The issue existed before the upgrade and does now after upgrade and reboot.

try this:

sudo systemctl disable snapd.socket
pamac remove --no-save snapd 
sudo rm -r /var/lib/snapd
**reboot**
sudo pacman -S snapd
sudo systemctl enable --now snapd.socket

Brilliant, that indeed is the solution. I’m able to install snaps. Before I close this out, would you (or anyone) happen to know what I need to do to make the installed snaps show up in KDE application menu?

Assuming the SNAP provides a .desktop file or whatever … Reboot should do it.

Thanks for the nudge.

Snap stores .desktop files in /var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/ and KDE stores Global launch files in /usr/share/applications/ and personal application files in /home/$USER/.local/share/applications/.

I did the following and can get current and future installed snaps to show in launcher.

sudo ln -s /var/lib/snapd/desktop/applications/*.desktop  /usr/share/applications/
