For a little over a year now, I’ve been trying to play the Vergil DLC for Devil May Cry 5 on steam. I’ve used multiple versions of Proton, and even been able to play the base game perfectly. The game would crash midway through the loading screen (where I assume the game would normally be finished loading and have started playing said cutscene). It was suggested to me that the game might be trying to load it using the integrated graphics on my motherboard, and running out of vram, and I’ve set up prime offloading but I can’t tell if it’s actually working. I’ve talked about this on the official github for proton and another user had mentioned having the same issue, and said “it was something with Manjaro, and switching to Ubuntu fixed it”. I asked them if they knew what the issue was, and still haven’t gotten an answer. I was wondering if anyone here would have the slightest idea what that “something” would be. I’ve seen people running Manjaro play the Vergil DLC with no problem and I basically have no idea where to go from here, any help is immensely appreciated. Thanks/sorry for wasting your time if this turns out to be something stupid that I missed, in advance.
The game has a Gold rating on ProtonDB as I’m sure you already know. You can even set the filters by Distro, CPU, GPU, etc. to see more related ratings.
Have you tried both steam-manjaro
(using the Steam Runtime) and steam-native
(using native libs)?
Please post your system info as outlined here:
Firstly, thank you for the reply! As for ProtonDB, I am aware of the filter options, but none of the reviews that are related to my specs mention the issue that I am having. As for running on steam-native
as opposed to steam-manjaro
, it yielded the same result. I updated the system info in my profile but was there anything you wanted me to post here?
