After the update for Enpass from 6.11 to 6.12, they have switched to defaulting to wayland only support. My system still uses X11 so unfortunately this update broke Enpass for me. On their site they have instructions to fix X11 support for Debian, RPM, and OpenSUSE based systems, but not Arch. Is there a way to include X11 support for Enpass 6.12 on Manjaro official repos without having to switch to an AUR?
If that’s still the case, Cinnamon does have experimental Wayland support.
Where?
Switch to what, exactly? The enpass-bin AUR package (ignore the duplicate enpass package, it’s pending deletion) has also been updated to 6.12.6.2258.
True, Cinnamon does have experimental Wayland support. I may have to give it a try if there isn’t a fix. Either that or switch password managers…again.
As for information for continuing X11 support, it’s basically instructing to add different repos that still include X11 supported Enpass.
I did notice that the enpass-bin AUR package has been updated. There’s a reddit thread where it is mentioned for people using Arch. I believe it includes the libraries needed for continuing to support X11. I haven’t tested it yet as I’m not 100% sure if I uninstall my current rolled back Enpass 6.11 installed from the official repos, if that’ll also remove my ability to go back to the older 6.11 from the official repo’s if for some reason the enpass-bin AUR doesn’t work.
What Reddit thread? Please provide information like that to begin with. Help us help you. ![]()
Like most packages, it depends on system libraries and does not ship it’s own libraries. The source is the official .deb in both the Manjaro repo package and the AUR package. The only difference is the declared dependencies. I’ve just updated them with 6.12.6.2258-3.
As mentioned in the release notes, the Wayland version is 6.12.6.2258 and the X11 version is 6.12.6.2255. They’re two completely different packages in two different areas of the official apt repository as mentioned in the help article you linked.
You can install / uninstall / reinstall whichever package you wish anytime you’d like.
There is a portable version (6.6.1) on their website. It launched successfully here on Xfce without experimental Wayland.
The only caveat is:
Note: The portable version of Enpass has been discontinued and will no longer receive updates.
We recommend using the latest desktop or mobile versions for best experience and security.

Of course, there is also the option to switch to a fully Wayland supporting Display Environment (or Window Manager).
Not just for the sake of one application, though, but because…
just because!
Honestly I think I may give some other DE’s a try. Wasn’t a fan of Gnome when they switched and for some reason with KDE I always felt like it was either overkill or when ever I tried it, it was severely buggy…but it certainly can’t be as buggy as when I just yesterday tried Cinnamon on wayland. Some apps left all sorts of artifacts all over the display.
And while I know I can load another DE along side, it’s time to do a complete reinstall anyway. It might have been about a decade since I first loaded this OS on the laptop.
I appreciate all the input and assistance. See ya on the flip side.
As all official Manjaro editions are curated, the most reliable approach would be a new install of the OS, using the Manjaro edition ISO of your choice. Simply attempting to install another DE in situ would likely introduce more complication.
Of the likely candidates at this time, the Manjaro GNOME edition only supports Wayland, and KDE Plasma edition will soon (as from Plasma 6.8) remove support for X11 completely.
