Dear Manjaro Community, every other system start the primary display of my Desktop PC configuration goes to standby mode in the phase between boot and logon.
I get this monitor working again only after the logon, by turning it off and then on again, but then all of the Plasmoids get displaced all over the desktop.
Alternatively, I have to restart the system, and then the logon screen finally appears too on the first display. But it’s not the way it’s supposed to work, since I expect this screen never to go to standby when boot is completed. Boot menu is always visible.
Please read this: How to provide good information
and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information… (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.
Kernel 5.9 is EOL so please install both 5.4 and 5.10 LTS (Long Time Support) and see which one of the two troubles you least.
Seems like you’re on 5.12 Stable and not 5.9 EOL as your profile says (please update that ), so that’s good, but did you try out 5.4 LTS and 5.10 LTS already?
Your BIOS / UEFI firmware seems to be a bit old:
Have you checked if there is a newer version already?
Are both monitors native DP monitors or do you have a converter in one of them?
BIOS updated to F61a, 2021/03/29. It seems to work after three times booting, no blank screen with standby.
It’s too early, but it’s a positive signal.
Both monitors have each a DP interface, so I assume it’s native. This much I know.
Many thanks, I’m still monitoring, I’ll close this thread if this issue does not appear anymore.
