Dual Screen Config Issues During Logon

Dear Manjaro Community, every other system start the primary display of my Desktop PC configuration goes to standby mode in the phase between boot and logon.

I get this monitor working again only after the logon, by turning it off and then on again, but then all of the Plasmoids get displaced all over the desktop.

Alternatively, I have to restart the system, and then the logon screen finally appears too on the first display. But it’s not the way it’s supposed to work, since I expect this screen never to go to standby when boot is completed. Boot menu is always visible.

This is my rig:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 3700x
  • AMD Radeon RX 5500XT
  • Kernel: 5.12.1-2
  • Desktop: Plasma 5.21.4
  • Primary Display: iiyama ProLite XB3288UHSU
  • Secondary Display: iiyama ProLite E2783QSU
  • 2-Port Dual DisplayPort KVM
  • Ornara 21.0.4

Thanks in advance for every valuable advice.

:+1: Welcome to Manjaro! :+1:

  1. Please read this:
    How to provide good information
and post some more information so we can see what’s really going on. Now we know the symptom of the disease, but we need some more probing to know where the origin lies…
  2. An inxi --admin --verbosity=7 --filter --no-host --width would be the minimum required information… (Personally Identifiable Information like serial numbers and MAC addresses will be filtered out by the above command)
Also, please copy-paste that output in-between 3 backticks ``` at the beginning and end of the code/text.
  3. Kernel 5.9 is EOL so please install both 5.4 and 5.10 LTS (Long Time Support) and see which one of the two troubles you least.

  1. Seems like you’re on 5.12 Stable and not 5.9 EOL as your profile says (please update that :+1: ), so that’s good, but did you try out 5.4 LTS and 5.10 LTS already?

  2. Your BIOS / UEFI firmware seems to be a bit old:

Have you checked if there is a newer version already?

  3. Are both monitors native DP monitors or do you have a converter in one of them?

BIOS updated to F61a, 2021/03/29. It seems to work after three times booting, no blank screen with standby.
It’s too early, but it’s a positive signal.
Both monitors have each a DP interface, so I assume it’s native. This much I know.

Many thanks, I’m still monitoring, I’ll close this thread if this issue does not appear anymore.

I’ve marked this answer as the solution to your question as it is by far the best answer you’ll get.

However, if you disagree with my choice, please feel free to take any other answer as the solution to your question or even remove the solution altogether: You are in control! (If you disagree with my choice, just send me a personal message and explain why I shouldn’t have done this or  or :+1: if you agree)

:innocent:
P.S. In the future, please don’t forget to come back and click the 3 dots below the answer to mark a solution like this below the answer that helped you most:
Solution
so that the next person that has the exact same problem you just had will benefit from your post as well as your question will now be in the “solved” status.
P.P.S. I’d rather you come back and take the solution away than forgetting to come back to give the solution…
