Dropped Wifi doesn't reconnect gives me a bad password

I am running Manjaro using network manager. My ISP has been having drops which drops me on my Manjaro desktop. I have it set to reconnect automatically. The problem is when it drops I then get a popup that says a wrong password was entered and it asks me to enter a password. I can cancel out of this and just click on the wifi icon in the tray and it will connect. I have also tried entering the password in the popup to see if it fixes it but it just connects without fixing. Not sure how to fix this. I tried forgetting the network as well.

You’re not very clear on what’s going on, from your description would seem that you run a dials-up connection (which I doubt)
Since not even the best on this forum are crystal ball readers, you need to provide some more info from journalctl

So, you enter the password, and it connects. I fail to see the problem.

Please add some more descriptive words to your first post to clarify your issue further, for those who might wish to help.

Also, provide your system information in accordance with forum guidelines. See the Mini-How-To’s (below)

Regards.

[Mini-HowTo] Provide System Information

Basic details provided by *-fetch type apps might give enough information for someone wishing to buy a computer, however, for Support purposes it’s best to ask your system directly.

Output of the inxi command will generate more useful and detailed information for those who may wish to help:

Suggested inxi command (use either):

inxi -zv8 (short-form)
inxi --filter --verbosity=8 (long-form)

Command output should be presented as pre-formatted text in accordance with forum guidelines. :eyes:

Running inxi within a chroot environment

  • Add --color=0 to the long-form command, or…
  • Change the short-form command to inxi -zv8c0

[Mini-HowTo] Present code or command output

Note: Grave accent (or, backtick) characters are used. :eyes:

For inline code or to show a single command:

  • please follow this simple example: code here.

For multi-line command output:

  • place text beween two rows of three (```) backtick characters to form a scrollable text box, or …
  • use the </> button in the Compose window to achieve the same result.

The empty row between these rows of backtick characters is where to paste any multi-line command output (such as inxi).

An example of a pre-formatted text enclosure:

What is a Quark?

A. In Physics, an elementary particle and fundamental constituent of matter.
B. A character from the Star Trek: "Deep Space Nine" television series.
C. A soft, creamy, usually unsalted cheese traditional to central Europe.

Some DSL providers uses a captive portal to ensure the subscriber identity.

Such captive portal will be detected by Network Manager which then may attempt to request authentication.

I am thinking this is a configuration issue with your ISP provided router/access point.

It may help if you restart and/or reset the ISP router to default settings.

The issue is that with my other computers if I get a wifi drop NetworkManager will just reconnect my high speed cable internet without any intervention. My Manjaro computer says it received a bad password when trying to reconnect. I looked in my KDE wallet and the password is correct. I don’t know why it gives me a bad password as it should just reconnect.
