Dell latitude 7480 fingerprint

i have a dell latitude 7480 fingerprint
lsusb shows:
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0a5c:5834 Broadcom Corp. [unknown]
this is the fingerprint sensor but it seems that there is no driver installed on the system for this sensor
so where can i find the driver of this sensor so as i can use it with fprintd?

Dell Drivers & Downloads may be worth a visit.

These links may give some useful information:

These results were found with a simple Google search using 0a5c:5834 Broadcom driver linux – I hope these lead to something usable.

Cheers.

As far as I know you can’t, it’s not supported by libfprint.

Device with ID 0a5c:5834 does not work on most Dell systems
https://linux-hardware.org/?id=usb:0a5c-5834

Archwiki confirms device does not work on Latitude 7480 specifically
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Laptop/Dell#Latitude

after installing "libfprint-2-tod1-broadcom: now the pc detect the sensor
lsusb:
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0a5c:5834 Broadcom Corp. 5880

but i still cant configure it:
fprintd-enroll  :heavy_check_mark:
Impossible to enroll: GDBus.Error:net.reactivated.Fprint.Error.NoSuchDevice: No devices available

As evidenced by numerous links, including those I initially posted, the general consensus seems to be that this device 0a5c:5834 on the Lattitude 7480 will likely never be made to function.

As @MrLavender ponts out, the libfprint Wiki lists it as unsupported; as does ArchLinux (which Manjaro is built upon), as incicated by @nikgnomic .

I submit that Manjaro forum users will likely not be able to help further with your issue, and that it will only become a time-sink for all who try. Therefore I have taken the liberty of assigning a post above as being the solution, so that this thread may soon be closed.

Of course, if you disagree, you can always change it again. Cheers.
