Every time i try to boot discord it says “update failed -Retrying in 42 seconds” I know its not my internet because i can just log into steam and other apps with no problem
You seem to have Discord’s auto-update enabled. But it can’t update itself when installed from the package manager:
- It would need superuser privileges to do so.
- It would create a conflict with the files provided by the package.
Personally, i use webcord instead, as that one doesn’t block you because of a pending update.
