Disabling Zero-Fan or creating a GPU Fan Curve, possible on a Radeon RX 9000 Gen GPU?

I don’t like the idea from Zero-Fan on a GPU.
Long time ago i saw this Topic, which allows to disable Zero Fan on a Radeon RX 7000 Gen GPU:

And im wondering if this or a similar option also available for a Radeon RX 9000 Gen GPU under Linux?

Under Windows there is MSI Afterburner, to setup a Fan Curve but how it looks under Linux?

The closest thing i could find is this:

But it is AUR and there is also no info which GPU’s are actually supported.

I always control my fan’s via bios. You can set them like you want or choose a profile, I always choose silent mode.

You can only control Case-Fan’s and CPU-Fan’s in your Bios. And yeah im doing that already.

Sadly there is no option for the GPU-Fan’s in our Bios, this option doesn’t exist there.

try with lact

Thanks, i heared about Lact already (context related to Undervolting/Overclocking) but i wasn’t aware that tool also allows a GPU Fancurve.

Hopefully it supports the 9000 Gen Series.

I have my RX 9070 XT with LACT and i have fan curves set with it and zero fan disabled.

I would use CoreCTRL from the repositories. Basically same feature as LACT but CoreCTRL seem more reliable to me.

Your mileage may vary it depends on hardware in the end.

Also make sure to enable AMD feature from grub option for example, adding amdgpu.ppfeaturemask=0xffffffff and rebuilding grub and rebooting.

I also read from some user’s that LACT could lead sometimes after a Distro Update to a no longer working application.

Is that grub option recommend for LACT also?

I have that set with LACT and it works. LACT also seems to have some form of their own method to do it though.

For me i haven’t had any problems with LACT, but i switched to it around half a year or year ago.

This is to unlock possibility of modifying locked things (clock, voltage for sure, maybe other controls, test without it if you can do what you want, then apply the parameter if you’re locked out of modifying what you want to modify).
