Volume "on" causes online videos stop playing | External monitor

My laptop has a 2560 x 1440 built-in display. I usually connect the laptop to a 27-inch 2560 x 1440 external monitor via HDMI.

I use it as Single Display with the external monitor only.

The following happens quite frequently:
When disconnecting the HDMI, using the laptop without the external monitor and then connecting back again, I see that online videos do not play as soon as I turn “on” the volume in the online service volume bar. Only when muting the volume, the video then plays.

See this quite explanatory video:

This issue also appears when the following: I lock the screen (CNTRL + L), and then when unlocking it back the video is frozen with Volume “on”

I would (highly) recommend update bios/firmware.
Is fwupd or gnome-firmware installed ?

…will this heal your “volume problem” - maybe, who knows.

Thanks for your reply, truly, I appreciate it quite fondly; however, just because of past experiences, where problems escalated further, I learnt the hard way not to commence to take a bit out-of-the-box thought hypothetical actions (i.e. firmware-related guess in this case) unless there’s somewhat a clear troubleshooting that indicates towards that direction

As a brief update, this issue is still occurring - what might be the cause?
Thanks
