Dependency issues when performing an update

I get this error when running sudo pacman -Syyu. I searched this issue

Installing nvidia-utils (570.133.07-1) breaks dependency 'nvidia-utils=550.144.03' required by linux612-nvidia

Mod edit:- Please avoid pasting long and unwieldly error messages as a topic title. The message has now been inserted immediately above and the topic title changed.

and found previous topics here, here, and here but they all were using EOL kernels, whereas I am using the newest LTS 6.12 kernel. Here is the output of inxi -F:

This issue occurred after I had removed the community repo from pacman.conf as according to https://archlinux.org/news/cleaning-up-old-repositories/ and tried updating my system. I initially also got the error installing nvidia-utils (570.133.07-1) breaks dependency 'nvidia-utils=550.144.03' required by linux66-nvidia which went away after I ran sudo pacman -R linux66-nvidia but did not want to do the same to the linux612-nvidia package in case it broke something important. Any advice on how to handle this?

sudo mhwd-kernel --listinstalled gives

   * linux612
   * linux66

The command to perform a sync/update is;

sudo pacman -Syu

(note the single “y”).

Only use another variation of the command if you are instructed to, or if you understand the ramifications of using it.

mbn can be found in the manjaro-check-repos package

Because Nvidia is now 570 - the nvidia 550xx has moved to AUR.

This will cause problems with a kernel depending on nvidia 550

Use mhwd-kernel to remove linux66 before updating

mhwd-kernel -r linux66

I cannot say if this is enough …

Thank you, I have now updated the original post’s command output with the full output from inxi -zv8.

I removed the kernel as instructed, rebooted, and tried to run sudo pacman -Syu. I still get the same error. (I have updated the original post with a more complete inxi output).

I refreshed mirrors as instructed and tried to run the update command. I still get the same issue.

Please run sudo pacman -Syu again and post the complete output, from start to finish, here.

Here you go:

That is unusual. Are you somehow using Arch repos instead of Manjaro’s? Because it is saying that the versions on the mirror are older than the installed versions, and Arch is behind Manjaro on base, base-devel, filesystem, mkinitcpio & pacman:

mbn can be found in the manjaro-check-repos package

Edit: I see in your inxi output that your mirrors all do seem to be correct. Maybe you need to wipe the databases & re-download them. So, this time, try updating with the extra “y” to force a refresh:

sudo pacman -Syyu

If that doesn’t work, then manually remove the databases:

sudo rm /var/lib/pacman/sync/*

and then run

sudo pacman -Syu

Thank you, manually removing the databases and then updating solved the issue! Still not sure what happened…
