It shouldn’t affect anything if you are using the built-in display only. However, I was concerned that it may screw up the installers detection.
I did install using the Fastboot Thorough setting as well.
AFAIK, I had working UI acceleration with KDE (and Gnome) out of the box without any tweaking in software.
