are you certain you uninstalled everything related to bumblebee like bbswitch, optirun, primusrun and anything else you may of installed prior to switching to prime?
check and then post output for:

mhwd -li
pacman -Qs bumblebee bbswitch optirun primus nvidia-xrun

if nothing points to an obvious/easily fixable issue and if your not too concerned about re-installing manjaro and starting with a fresh install using free drivers that may or may not get you into a graphical desktop at first (manjaro-chroot in after install so your able to copy/paste from the tutorial. this may actually save you some time.

i cant help but think this issue is caused by something done previously conflicting with the prime setup, also you should really update your bios, its incredibly simple to do and if you dont want to use Fwupd to do it just download the .exe from dell and either load it onto a fat32 formatted usb or just copy the file right to your EFI partition, reboot, then use whichever key gets you to boot selection and choose to update your bios and you’ll be able to load the exe right from there. bios updates are created out of necessity to fix bugs from previous versions and for compatibility of your hardware and operating system and solves alot of issues otherwise unfixable.

if you do reinstall , make sure you refresh mirrors list and sudo pacman -Syyu after its installed and reboot before beginning the prime tutorial.

note: i mentioned you may or may not be able to get into graphical desktop using free drivers but you’ll most likely be able to, as was i able to but trying to use mhwd or anything involving configuring gpu and its drivers would lock up and hard reset is needed. buts its very easily worked around by booting into the live usb again and using manjaro-chroot to let you do any changes to your install very easily.
i dont think that its anything to do with the tutorial because i used the same one to setup my optimus dell inspiron 7559 on kde and on gnome and both work perfectly.

edit: listen to petsam first

Something is wrong, letting intel active instead of modesetting … so we have to find some clue.
@jonryan the Xorg log is old. You have to find the most current at that folder or at /var/log/Xorg.?.log

My output from mhwd -li

So I guess, I don’t have anything related to bumblebee installed…

These are the logs I found. There is a Xorg.0.log and Xorg.0.log.old

Actually these are older but the previously posted will do for now.
You should configure properly what @dglt said about sleep state. You are privileged to have a model specific article in Archwiki and should goto first.
If tlp is installed you should blacklist your nvidia card.
As for intel/modesetting, glamor may wake it up, it should be blacklisted in modprobe conf file.

#27

if your going to try and work it out instead of reinstall (which is always better for educational purposes) .
read your model specific arch wiki:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dell_XPS_15_9570
the xps 15 9560 would also be helpful, maybe other similar models as well.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dell_XPS_15_9560

they seem to touch base in different issues in each of them but more likely than not would include issues that effect them both.

if nothing there or other sources work, knowing when your just pissing into the wind is also a good thing, reinstall and setup prime/nvidia. and update your bios!!!

#28

Properly configuring the sleep state actually did the trick. My laptop now resumes correctly without freezing. Didn’t even have to blacklist the nvidia card for tlp.

On the ArchWiki post it said, that some CPUs may enter a high power state after resuming. How can I tell if this is the case for me?

Updating my BIOS still is a good idea, right?

#29

You have to test if your laptop is consuming a lot of power during suspension. Reading the linked report they mention about usb devices possibly drain power, even the embedded BT, but they were about Windows OS, while they said in Linux it works fine.
I would suggest you don’t necessarily update BIOS if you don’t have problems, but it’s your decision, while you can always revert back if needed.

#30

did you check your inxi -G to see if the video drivers are loaded properly? your system may no longer freeze on wake but the video driver issue should still read as modesetting, nvidia (possibly a separate issue)?

#31

It looks exactly like my output last time.

Graphics:
  Device-1: Intel UHD Graphics 630 driver: i915 v: kernel
  Device-2: NVIDIA GP107M [GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile] driver: nvidia v: 415.18
  Display: x11 server: X.org 1.20.3 driver: intel
  resolution: <xdpyinfo missing>
  OpenGL: renderer: GeForce GTX 1050/PCIe/SSE2 v: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 415.18

#32

your xorg is still using the integrated intel instead of the modesetting, nvidia
im not too sure why this i happening or even what effect this would have. is modesetting blacklisted? im glad you were able to stop the freezing on wake but admittedly im curious as to why yours is different from every other prime setup ive seen iirc.

im wondering if you changing the sleep state is just a workaround of an underlying issue with xorg/nvidia configuration. according to the arch wiki yours model should use [deep], is that what you switched to? when i previously asked which one yours was set to i didnt notice it was set to [s2idle], sorry bout that.
also, this is a good read regarding your model and its power drain during/after sleep:

#33

Sorry, I can’t find what you are referring to. Do you mean Steps 3.1 and 3.2 in the tutorial?

I set the sleep mode to “deep”. Before that it was the other mode.
After I wake up my laptop, the fans are constantly spinning, so I assume the CPU is running in a different mode than before… the CPU usage looks normal though.

How about I just update my BIOS and see whats up next?

#34

#35

The update was successful and my system boots normally.
The display driver for Xorg is still intel though…

#36

im still searching for a reason why x is loading intel and not modesetting, nvidia . i’ll let you know when/if i find something

#37

thank you, I highly appreciate your help!

#38

since the update of my firmware I noticed a well noticeable increase in power draw. Did this come with the update?

edit: If I had known about the trouble with nvidia I would have looked for an amd solution… amd solutions should work out of the box, right?

#39

xorg not not using modesetting, nvidia im thinking has something to do with some configuration from before installing nvidia/prime. look into(check wiki’s) where all those files would be located for bumblebee and anything else related to it. run through the nvidia troubleshooting wiki’s on manjaro and arch.
also maybe @jonathon would know why it’s still loading intel instead of modesetting, nvidia .

#40

Please post the output of the above command so we are sure. mhwd is not a definite info for this.
