Audio work mostly OOB - but some applications requires configuration to be able to interact with the audio output.
When I have an issue with audio is because audio is not routed to the working output.
I know nothing about Davinci resolve so my advise is generic.
Open the audio settings to configure the outputs and route them for your application.
You may also have a look at various mixer applications available.
My immediate thought is you’ve got too old of Resolve with all the changes made to the Linux audio stack maybe. DaVinci Resolve 18.6.4 came out three years ago and they just released Resolve 21.
My Resolve preference screen also shows “System Audio” for I/O Engine within Audio. Check the Arch Wiki: DaVinci Resolve - ArchWiki & try running from CLI to see if it throws any errors:
cd /opt/resolve/bin
./resolve
It can be a bear to get working but once it does you should be gtg.

Today I rolled back version v18, same situation with version v21, no sound.
DaVinci Resolve - ArchWiki - didn’t help.
This is probably a bit out of left field for you, but, I’ve noticed a couple of Content Creators on Linux giving up on DaVinci Resolve, and in at least one case moving to KDEnlive. Simply because DaVinci Resolve’s support for Linux based Systems is so flakey.
Does Davinci Resolve show up in the Plasma Sound Applet in the panel status bar? Am wondering if its a Pipewire or Plasma thing over Davinci Resolve. Resolve runs fine on my Manjaro install and I didn’t have to do anything on the audio side to get that working.
Also note AAC doesn’t work in Linux on Resolve Free or Studio so don’t know if that is the issue either.
You have to learn it, the interface is completely different. But
with 1 hour of gemini help, the project was completed.
