Ctrl apparently bound to non-functional volume down

I have switched over to Manjaro from Mint about 4 hours ago and am very much still in the setting up phase.
Just now I began to notice that pressing either CTRL key, apparently “turns down” Brave, and only Brave. However it actually doesn’t affect the volume of Brave at all. Furthermore does neither Brave itself nor the audio shortcuts, or any other shortcut for that matter, CTRL by itself bound at all.

Mod edit:- Screenshot removed. Avoid using screenshots when a clear text description is satisfactory.

Getting the little popup that Brave is muted (after the few that would show the volume going down) is getting very irritating very quickly.

UPDATE:
Evidently it actually is possible to transfer configurations between flatpak and the official repository versions.
Having switched to the official version appears to have solved this issue.

Welcome to the Manjaro community.

I have installed Brave from the official Manjaro repository:

sudo pacman -S brave-browser

I am unable to reproduce what you describe.

Others might have useful comments to add.

Note that on the chance you installed Brave from the AUR, no support is typically offered, though Members may still offer their experiences. Use of the AUR is officially unsupported by either Manjaro or Arch.

As a new forum user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements; in particular, the many ways to use the forum to your benefit:

The Update Announcements should be checked frequently for important update related information.

These announcements contain a Known Issues and Solutions section and should generally be checked before posting a request for support.

Output of the following command formatted according to forum requirements (see links above) may be useful for those wishing to help:

inxi --admin --verbosity=8 --filter --no-host --width

Be prepared to provide more information and outputs from other commands when asked.

Naturally.

My Brave installation is the flatpak version.
This choice was made to avoid having to redo settings, extensions etc. since there apparently is no way to transfer from flatpak to the repository version without breaking Brave.

Here is the inxi output.

Flatpak, by its very nature, is isolated from the system to varying extents. Inconveniences such as you describe are indeed likely.

My only suggestion is to install brave-browser from the official repositories instead. I have already established that no such issue seems to exist with that version.

With regards saving you the effort of configuring your browser, and installing a selection of extensions, I’m afraid I can’t help with that; except to suggest using a brower sync feature, if one exists.

Regards.
