Accents/other special char combos with German keyboard and French setup

Hi,

I feel stupid writing this message… I have been enjoying + understanding the Linux ecosystem for more than a decade now. But there are things than get out of my control still…

For about a year now, I cannot write accents in KDE applications. It is working well in Firefox or Easytag, GTK applications as far as I know, but not in QT apps. Any ideas what is wrong? Or how to proceed to isolate the problem?

I have searched many forums and tested some solutions, but nothing seems to work for me.

I am running:

  • KDE Frameworks 5.84.0
  • Qt 5.15.2 (built against 5.15.2)
  • The xcb windowing system

If more details are necessary, happy to provide them ASAP.

Check KDE settings for keyboard settings. I think KDE settings for keyboard are misleading because there are at least a couple of places where you can set some keyboard settings. So be sure to check both places. One is under keyboard settings and the other one is under keyboard and input devices (names can be slightly different, I translated them from my own language)

PS: Check all tabs there.
