Critical failure in the graphical environment

Hello, good morning, good afternoon or good night.

Before narrating my situation, I want to give an opinion:
Honestly, I am a new user in Linux, I have only been using it for about 8 months, and it really seems terrible to me that there is still NO way to solve possible errors in a more friendly way for users who have NO knowledge. In this way, LINUX and Open Source will NEVER be used massively.

And I’m NOT just saying it as a criticism, I’m saying it constructively, since I have thousands of ideas to make LINUX become something really USABLE for EVERYONE, but it’s amazing how NOBODY seems to come up with these things to implement them. Or on the other hand, it seems that NOBODY has the courage to really make LINUX something more FUN and usable by the vast majority.

But hey, removing my opinion, I would like help on the following situation:

Yesterday I was configuring the aesthetic section of my Manjaro Plasma environment, and the error in question appeared while I was configuring the Enlargement effect, in the “space behaviors” section, or something like that in Spanish, in desktop effects. Prior to this, I had installed a custom “Plasma Style”, which is called “Maia Transparent”, and changed the mouse style, which by the way, the latter, did not update until I rebooted the system.

Well, the error that occurs is actually NOT an error as such, rather it is just that the Graphical Environment freezes (and I know it because the sound keeps playing) and after a few minutes it starts working again, this happens only when handling issues related to the environment itself, except for things like; applications, non-system windows, etc.

So, as I am a newbie and I DON’T even know how to delve into the possible cause of this, I decided to use A.I or rather “Chat-GPT” to guide me to find the CAUSE.

The point is that I DID NOT investigate much, because every time I want to use the Graphical Environment the WHOLE system crashes, so it is quite uncomfortable; for each movement of the graphic environment you have to wait a few minutes.

In summary, Chat-GPT recommended the following command to monitor LIVE, and the most relevant thing I saw in relation to this issue was the following:

The recommended command has been: “journalctl -f”, and the line that has caught my attention, which by the way, is highlighted in yellow, has been:

**kwin_wayland**[*1027*]: Could not get Interfaces. "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."

**kwin_wayland**[*1027*]: **characterRect** called on accessible that does not implement text

I don’t know if these two lines have something to do with it, but it’s the only thing I could do with my NULL knowledge.

I hope you can guide me to solve this issue.

Thank you very much for your time and attention.

Greetings.

Can you give some more information about your system:
inxi -Fza on console.

Hello, thank you very much for your prompt response.

I understand that your query is for the purpose of helping me, however, in the data output from the command that you provided me, I see somewhat sensitive information, which I would prefer NOT to share publicly, therefore, and in the spirit of preserving privacy, I ask you to please tell me what parameters you need from my system in order to help me.

I hope you don’t take it the wrong way, I consider PRIVACY something FUNDAMENTAL.

Thank you very much for your time and attention.

Greetings.

Welcome to the forum!

Like what? The -z flag for inxi already strips things like that.

See:

inxi --help | less -p 'Filter Options:'

There is no sensitive info in that output, you may only think it is sensitive because you’re new to Linux…
As pointed out in the reply above me, the -za part of the arguments already filter out info that should not be made public under normal circumstances…

The info in that output is needed to assist you, no one is interested in “stealing” something… we are all technicians here…

To make you feel more comfortable here is the output of my system using that exact command:

 $ inxi -Fza

Forum Rules - Personal Topics/Rants

Your topic is best characterized as a rant - not really a support question - rants provides no value and is frowned upon - read the page behind above link

System administration

You are the local system administrator and it is your responsibility when you are changing the system beyond the defaults.

System malfunction as a result of customization is generally unsupported as the system administrator is required to know how to revert the customization.

Applying custom themes should be done with great care otherwise it will break the GUI.

Reapply the default Global Theme (Manjaro or Breeze) → Apply all defaults and reboot

Open a terminal CtrlAltT and enter command

plasma-apply-lookandfeel -a org.manjaro.breath.desktop

If everything fails then you can use PlasmaWiper or Manjaro-Plasma-Reset

manjaro-plasma-reset.sh

Create a new file in your home manjaro-plasma-reset.sh with below content and save the file.
Excute the wipe by opening Konsole and enter bash manjaro-plasma-reset.sh

When you don´t offer some information, then others can´t solve the problem.

If you are new to linux after 8 months then you’ll be new forever. That’s like if you can’t play a song on a guitar after 8 months - then you aren’t putting in any actual effort or the guitar just isn’t for you and you should stop.

Lol what? Tell me how friendly is it to solve errors in other OSes. If you actually compared how much info it is out there about linux and how hard is is to troubleshoot anything in windows you wouldn’t say anything like this.

Why don’t you start implementing them then by contributing to various projects of your choice? No one cares how massively linux is used, but everyone would sure appreciate any contribution.

Yes, why even read yourself when you can ask AI. Can’t even imagine how stupid next generation will be.

So others should for you, for free?

First of all, thank you very much to everyone who wanted to help, I understand that this is a space for mutual help, therefore, recriminating the supposed lack of commitment -of the other- without knowing him, I do not think it is appropriate, but anyway, each one can say what he pleases, from there to being right is another matter.

Before exposing the requested information, I want to answer a few things:

As I have already mentioned; if in 8 months I’m still not a “Linux professional”, it’s simply because it’s not my main focus. On the other hand, I would add, does it require in-depth knowledge of its architecture to use Windows? Untrue? So, don’t expect / wait for people to commit to learning something that, in the best of cases, they are used to using and it just works. The idiosyncrasy of DEEPER on technical issues, NOT EVERYONE has it. In my case, I am fascinated by going deeper, but sometimes I find limits, limits that I CANNOT ALWAYS overcome. It’s understandable isn’t it? I understand that it is coherent that we are NOT all programmers, nor that it interests us or that programming or a deep understanding of architectures and their lots of administrative commands cost us a lot. It would be precious if we ALL had that knowledge, but DO NOT expect that, if there is not a truly HORIZONTAL PLATFORM, friendly to the user, to delve into LINUX and its vicissitudes.

On the other hand, dear fellow @zbe, exactly what you are narrating is true, in Windows it is NOT friendly to solve a situation, because when something breaks, THERE ISN’T MUCH the user can do, but you know what? Although we all regret it, because I LOVE Open-Source, WINDOWS has fewer technical defects than Linux. And you can NOT deny it to me; It is true that in Linux there is a LOT of free information, but perhaps, should all Linux users be TECHNICIANS? No… I think not…

Dear Master, Hopefully in a short time I will get people to support my initiatives to IMPROVE ACCESS TO OPEN-SOURCE. I am NOT lying to you, I aThis thread should be closed.m working on an international platform to facilitate access to Open-Source ventures, understand yourself; Self-financing, project managers, and all kinds of tools that allow US to CREATE, without much difficulty. Haven’t you realized how difficult it is to be a CREATOR, in times when EVERYTHING could be easier?
I wish I could share with you in simple words everything that my mind is capable of seeing in the future. That time will come.

Wait, I DON’T understand… "Reading myself? If you mean self-knowledge, I’m a daily practitioner of this; on the other hand, if you mean something else, I DON’T understand what you mean.
Let’s see, I see the functionality of a Forum somewhat outdated, in LINEAR terms, that is, as FORUMS are currently, what do I mean? I HAVE NOT SEEN ways to LOOK for problems that have already been solved before, in a friendly way and that truly saves all of us time. ALWAYS EVERYTHING is a search and search, until what, in the best of cases SOMETHING is found.
I’m sorry, when the inconvenience sometimes exceeds one’s knowledge, then, we only have to investigate in other ways, one of them can be consulting in a forum, and another, in recent times, seeing WHAT an AI says . And I want to clarify SOMETHING for you, for me, what an AI says, is NOT absolute truth, I only use it as a GUIDE, so mate, if we talk about self-inquiry, please, try NOT to make ASSUMPTIONS about issues that you ignore.

The answer to this would be: IT DEPENDS… Do I force someone to do that? Absolutely NO. Here, in this forum, as in many, people help only out of love for their neighbor; or out of love for an idea, a group or for feeling that it CONTRIBUTES VALUE by sharing your knowledge.

I wish I could give you money to whoever helps me, but right now, I’m not in a position to do that. I don’t really understand what it is that makes you angry, but sometimes it’s true that I DON’T ask enough, OTHER TIMES, like this, I just DON’T KNOW what to ask.

Dear brother, just look for peace within yourself, and stop wasting your time, wanting to infect others with so much pessimism and anger.

Master, I’m sorry for the delay, I have seen some results that have been somewhat private to me, and I was scared, but anyway, here are the results that you have asked me for, although to be honest, there are some details that I have decided to omit, I hope this does NOT hinder your analysis:

Thank you very much for your time and attention.

Best regards to all.

If you know enough to decide what is needed or not, you might as well solve your own problems.
I personally exit this thread because of the obvious AI like responses, reasoning and resistance…

/muted thread.

The pedantic that you prove to BE, speaks of what you are as a human being. At no time did I boast that I KNOW ENOUGH to deduce what is or is not necessary to resolve this situation; Not only have I said it explicitly, but logically, I wouldn’t be doing this post, if I already knew how to solve it, don’t you think?

“Because of the obvious AI like answers”? What does this mean that you said? ha ha ha…

The resistance is YOURS, because YOUR PRIDE is so absurd that it DOES NOT allow you to maintain a coherent dialogue as an ADULT.

Better, go where you came from, that human beings with their attitude are NOT necessary for the evolution of the species.

Greetings.

PS: If you have so many spirits of greatness, at least it shows that you are intelligent enough to explain to a novice WHY he should expose ALL the information requested, for what purpose? Why do you want to see my devices, vulnerabilities, among other issues, if here I am asking for help to solve something in the VISUAL / GUI environment. Please, dear, a little logic. And if I AM the wrong one, then PROVE IT.

We do not need any toxicity in our city.
